26 Jul OD Barcelona | Live your destination. Your walking distance guide.
The new 5-star of OD Hotels opens its doors on 15 August in the city of Barcelona, Spain. The cosmopolitan Catalonian capital is the perfect place where to experience the best of culture, gastronomy and architecture altogether. And OD Barcelona connects you directly to its heart.
Like the other hotels of the group, OD Barcelona is located in one of the best locations of the city: the Eixample Dictrict. Central, modern and lively, the Eixample is one of the busiest districts of Barcelona as it holds some of the most famous streets and squares of the city such as Calle de Aragón (where the hotel is located), Plaza de Cataluña, Plaza de la Sagrada Familia or Paseo de Gracia, among many others. The hotel is surrounded by countless restaurants, bars, theatres, shops and other points of interest. The perfect location to make the most of your destination.
Here are some of our recommendations about what to visit around OD Barcelona.
What to see?
Both designed by Antoni Gaudí at the beginning of the 20th century, the houses are two of the most visited and representative buildings of Barcelona. You will easily recognize them for their peculiar façades with wavy geometric shapes, typical of Gaudí’s naturist stage.
2. Paseo de Gracia (2 minutes from the hotel > Google Map it)
Strolling along Paseo de Gracia is already an attraction in itself. You will find endless designer stores, including some the most prestigious fashion brands. Perfect for a day out with comfortable shoes and deep pockets.
3. Plaza de Cataluña (13 minutes from the hotel > Google map it)
At the end of Paseo de Gracia you will find the emblematic Plaza de Catalunya, with its restaurants and cafes around. It is considered the nerve centre of the city and it marks the boundary between the modern district of the Eixample and the oldest part of the city.
Where to eat?
With its 4 restaurants and 4 gastronomic bars in an area of 3500 square meters, the National is the first restaurant in restaurant with different areas where to enjoy traditional recipes of the Spanish mainland with first quality products. The restaurant has wanted to reproduce the modernist design of the 30’s and 40’s, without losing its contemporary atmosphere. Needless to say, the building, its architecture and its culinary experience deserve a visit!
Just look at the number of people who come to the restaurant day and night to get an idea of the quality of the place. The brewery has become a classic tapas place in Barcelona, both for tourists and locals. Besides its gastronomic quality, its decoration with shelves full of bottles is also worth seeing.
The Crème de la Crème of Spanish meat, without any doubt. The two restaurants occupy the space of what was once the Cine Capsa, a landmark in independent theater in the 70’s. LomoAlto serves beef and matured beef of extreme quality, while LomoBajo reinvents the sandwich and its combinations. Recommended for meat lovers!
This is our selection, but there is, of course, much more to visit in the Eixample. Do not forget, for example, the Ramón Montaner Palace, the MacBa Museum and the masterpiece of Gaudí: the Sagrada Familia, also accessible by foot. The hotel is in a very strategic point so you have everything within your reach!
And if you’d rather visit Barcelona without walking too much, don’t forget that we provide you with an OD Smart Cabrio when booking a Suite, so you can tour the city as much as you want. Are you coming?
