5 Days in London
London is one of the world’s most visited cities; in the past year, it has been visited by around 20 million tourists, keen to discover one of the most multicultural cities on the old continent.
In this first issue of the year, we are not going to talk about the places that everyone knows: Big Ben, the London Eye or Buckingham Palace, but rather here we are going to tell you about some lesser-known places that are worth visiting.
Leake Street
In other words, the tunnel of graffiti. It is a dark tunnel full of murals and graffiti. The area was used for the first time by Banksy in 2008 for an art exhibition with the aim of “transforming a dark, forgotten and dirty pit into “an oasis of beautiful art”. The place remained a secret until its opening and since then it has been canvas for anybody who feels like painting murals.
Neal’s yarld
Is one of those spots where it is worth getting lost. Although this tiny alley is popular among residents, Neal’s Yard does not have much relevance at the level of tourism. It is full of vintage-style restaurants where you can find various vegetarian eateries, magical shops that sell anything from oils to clothes and decorative items in a street that is full of greenery and flowers.
Little Venice
“Little Venice”. The streets located beside the canal are home to various cafes, pubs and restaurants. If you travel to London in the summer, you will see how the entire area comes to life as it fills up with tiny boats. If you like visiting different places, you can witness industrial landscapes here and some of the biggest, most extravagant houses in the city. Little Venice is situated close to Camden, in Regent’s Park.
Street Feast
Winter offers a multitude of events and activities to enjoy in the city as do those who live there. Street Feast brings some of the best purveyors of street food to London’s Winterville. Typical dishes from countries around the world, enlivened by live music and one of the best atmospheres that you can experience in wintertime in London.
Phonica Records
For music lovers. London has always been one of the most visited cities in the world for musicians and DJs who want to buy music. Phonica Records has earned its reputation as one of the best record stores in the entire world. It has an enviable wall of new 12-inch releases that covers almost all the current trends, with regular customers that include some prestigious international DJs including Four Tet, Floating Points, Caribou and Dixon, to name just some. Whether you are a fan or a collector, you simply have to visit this store to have the experience of rooting around among the records in search of a rarity and listening to vinyls before buying them, like in the past. What is more, they have a very lively bar/cafe and, now and then, they organise sessions with guest DJs.
Cereal Killer Cafe
A great way to start the day is with a “typical” English Breakfast. However, on another day, we can start it off at Cereal Killer Cafe, a place that offers a wide variety of cereal brands in the style of American TV series. It is a fantastic place with 90s decoration and music. There are two rooms: one with chairs and tables and the other with beds and low tables to give you the impression that you are having breakfast or brunch in your own bed! This picturesque spot is located in Camden Town, a recommended place to visit for tourists by tourism guidebooks from all over the world.
Brick Lane
We continue on the subject of cuisine and magic of street food stalls, something that is already an institution in the City of London. In addition to its excellent restaurants, Shoreditch es it is famous for its street food.
Every day, Brick Lane has a big market that offers street food ranging from Canadian poutine to Thai delicacies. As well as its open-air restaurants, there are also closed market areas.
Printwork
We could not visit London without spending a night clubbing. Each weekend, the city offers a fantastic program at clubs such as Fabric or Egg. We have chosen Printwork, which, in the last few years, has turned into a reference point for international clubbing.
With the capacity to hold 2,500 people in a space measuring 60,000 m², Printwork has one of the best sound systems. Its creators’ goal was to preserve many of the factories original characteristics, including its different heights. All of it both for music and for fashion and cinema events.
