A Home That Resists Distortion

There are spaces that are not on any map. This collage and mixed-media exhibition seeks them out: the places within oneself where perception holds firm even when everything around tries to change it.

«Abscond» arises from a basic need: to have an internal home to return to when the outside becomes disordered. The works of Carolina of Ibiza stemming from the tension between what is seen, what is hidden, and what is reordered after the rupture.

Through the Collage —fragments, layers, images that don't quite fit— the artist shows what reality looks like when it's broken, mixed, or manipulated. How stories become distorted when there's violence, conflict, or imbalance. The narrative changes: it inverts, fragments, becomes contaminated.

There's the Noise. The social, emotional, and relational noise. And the silence: that of those who see what's happening and do nothing. That silence also upholds the dominant narrative.

But at the heart of it all is a quest: a Return point. Not as a refuge, but as a base. A place where your perception doesn't fade even if everything around tries to change it.

«A way of looking at what happens when a story stops being reliable. And of remembering that, even there, an internal space that doesn't give in can exist.»
