Memories
Exhibition info
"Memories" is the title of this exhibition, which symbolises a look back in time. Since I began my professional career in painting, my work has evolved with me. Constantly changing and challenging myself. I have been working with different techniques, from the most humble ones such as classical drawing to the mixed technique with different media and textures on the canvas, so characteristic and favourable for abstraction as a language. The common thread has always been the play with colour, using it as a sounding board for my emotions and moods, using it as a language to connect with the viewer of my work. As a result of this hard work, several series have appeared in recent years. Among them, I have selected some of the most appreciated by me, hoping that they resonate with you and connect with your deepest essence.
Artist biography
A doctor by training, an artist by vocation. From a very early age, my interests were clearly defined. My curiosity for nature and the human being materialised in my vocation as a doctor, inspired by my father. But at the same time, I found in drawing my favourite form of expression and communication. I admired this discipline, which was a hallmark of my mother's family.
I spent hours studying about art, and drawing and painting on every piece of paper I could find, and even books that I decorated with imaginary characters. I didn't receive any formal academic training in art, although during my years at university, I did attend workshops on drawing and painting occasionally. But they never materialised in a continuous artistic activity.
For many years, I was completely absorbed by my profession. Although I used to look back on those years with nostalgia, thinking that perhaps some of my valuable time was wasted, I now look at it from a different perspective. Those years have given me incredible experiences, hard and wonderful at the same time. I created my family and lived in the UK for two years. I survived a pandemic, something I would never have imagined I would have to live through as a doctor. All this has made me what I am today, and now these are irreplaceable things that have enriched my life.
In September 2022 I decided to make a vital change. I set out to start creating again, drawing and painting on a daily basis. My style is eclectic, ranging from figurative works to pure abstraction. I use drawing and painting interchangeably. I experiment with different techniques and materials. I work, study and try to find my own artistic language. I try to communicate my emotions and feelings, and my personal vision and perspective on nature and human beings. The colours I choose are the alphabet of an intimate language that I use to communicate with the viewer. My studio at home is the refuge where I connect with my inner voice and find the peace to transmit my emotions through painting.
"Each brushstroke, each stroke, each texture, is impregnated with emotions and feelings. This intimate language is created and changes with me, my personal evolution is reflected in my works. The path is what makes us what we are, more than the goal ..... we are and we are in constant change. I hope that this rediscovered passion will lead and inspire my life from now on".
