Marine Abstraction
Exhibition info
Valencia, 1983. Lawyer by training and abstract artist by vocation.
The textures used and their marine reminiscences are defining features of this Valencian artist who lives on the island of Ibiza.
The artist's most personal exhibition, which brings together the works that most define her, the result of a great evolution since her arrival on the island.
Sands, marbles, mica and various building materials are used by this painter as the basis for her works, in which the sea plays a major role. The Mediterranean, with its different tones depending on the shores and depths, appears before the observer of the painting in zenithal perspectives brimming with light and textures.
The artist defines her work as "MARINE ABSTRACTION": the sea as a background theme, from a material and abstract perspective. "Immersing oneself in the painting with the landscapes as a common thread; that they feel the work and experience it as if they were there".
The play of light and colour, as well as the depth of the sea and nature is its main theme, strongly influenced by the island's vital energy. Ibiza in its purest form. Colour, texture and a touch of abstraction characterise his work. A natural immersion through the canvas.
María García de Leonardo exhibits in different art galleries in Valencia, Madrid and Ibiza. She works mainly on commission for private individuals and interior designers. She ships all over the world. Specialised in large format for luxury homes.
