Eight interiors and one window
Exhibition info
This exhibition presents twelve paintings inspired by the quiet and intimate worlds of the French painter Édouard Vuillard.
The series is divided into two parts. The Eight Interiors explore darker, more melancholic atmospheres. Constructed with dense layers of oil pastels and pastel pencils, their rich textures suggest enclosed spaces, charged with silence, memories and shadows.
In contrast, the works in the Ventana open up to luminosity. With lighter colours and a sense of air and transparency, they offer a counterpoint: a glimpse of the outside, a breath of light behind the weight of the interior.
Together, these twelve paintings create a dialogue between inside and outside, shadow and light, closeness and liberation.
Artist biography
I am Nikoleta Kiapidou, a visual artist from Greece based in Madrid, Spain. Having previously lived in Cardiff and Brighton in the UK, and in Barcelona, I moved to Madrid for good in 2021.
I mainly use oils and oil pastels on canvas and paper. I also create outdoor murals. My process is organic, based on layers and textures. I like to walk the line between the familiar and the abstract. In the end, it is always the painting itself that speaks for itself.
