Although there are models for my works visually, they are not portraits nor do they represent individuality. They are an inner map of the human, oriented towards locating identity, the folds of ambiguity, keys to pleasure, or the darkness of pain. A process from the profound to the epidermal. Their terrain is the subterranean itinerary of desire and pleasure, the experimentation of the transcendental, and the highest state of sensory lucidity. They are not contemporary people, but timeless figures without canon, breaking moulds of classifications and visual customs.
I intend, as D.T. Suzuki said, “Man is a thinking being, but his great works are done when he does not calculate or think,” to lose the intentionality of the stroke. With gestures and impulses, to detach myself from the “ego” through a sensory and spiritual path, leading to transcendence without separating the work from the artist. To express pleasure and love in creating, absolute originality, intense and grotesque energy and simplicity.
Artist biography
Sarah Bogajo (1995) is a Basque artist who divides her life and work between the French Basque Country and Ibiza. Her artistic approach is multidisciplinary, allowing her to explore and express her creativity through various mediums.
With a unique sensitivity, Bogajo chooses the most suitable technique for each project, guided by what the work requires in its essence. Thus, her creations include painting, sculpture, engraving, poetry, photography, among others, forming a universe where emotions and technique intertwine.
