CAN IBIZA 2023 ART FAIR
CAN IBIZA 2023 ART FAIR
The great international art fair 'CAN, Contemporary Art Now' returns to the White Island, which will be held from July 12th to 16th at the Ibiza Trade Fair venue, becoming the major art event of the summer. In its second edition, CAN hosts 37 galleries from around the world to discover the latest in contemporary creation, showcasing the work of over 140 artists who have excelled in recent decades.
For the second consecutive year, OD Hotels is the official hotel of CAN Art, thus reinforcing its commitment to art and local support. The Ocean Drive Talamanca hotel will be the meeting point for attendees, accommodating collectors and fair enthusiasts from its privileged location in Talamanca Bay. Guests staying at any of the hotels in the OD Hotels and Ryans group during these days will receive an invitation to attend the fair.
This year, in addition to having its own booth at the fair, OD Hotels will present the Ocean Drive NFT Galley, a virtual art gallery hosted on the Cyber platform and created by the metaverse architect 0xWolfgang. Launched in September 2021, this collection of NFTs is the first created by a Spanish hotel chain and is available to view online from anywhere and any device.
CAN Contemporary Art Now is a fair that aims to strengthen the alliances between international and national galleries, and for 5 days the island will become a meeting place for artists, art collectors, enthusiasts, and personalities from the local and international cultural world. The first edition of CAN in 2022 was a great success, positioning the island as the epicenter of the international art world during the summer. "The best proof of the fair's warm reception is that in Ibiza, there is already talk of a week of art coinciding with CAN," says Sasha Bogojev, who is the invited curator for the second consecutive year.
In its second edition, galleries from New York, London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Miami, and more will participate. Some of the galleries include 1969 Gallery (New York), Allouche Benias (Athens), Anna Zorina Gallery (New York / Los Angeles), Ballon Rouge (Brussels), BEERS London (London), Carl Kostyál (London / Stockholm / Milan), Cob Gallery (London), Collaborations by T. Absaek & Martín Asbaek Gallery (Copenhagen), Galeria Droste + NBB Gallery (Düsseldorf / Berlin / Paris), Galerie Kleindienst (Leipzig), Galerie Rolando Anselmi (Berlin / Rome), Gallery Sofie Van de Velde + PLUS-ONE Gallery (Antwerp), Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery (Berlin / London / Nevlunghavn / West Palm Beach / Schloss Goerne), Marian Cramer Projects (Amsterdam), Mindy Solomon Gallery (Miami), Moosey Art (London / Norwich), Ojiri Gallery (London), PIERMARQ* (Sydney), Plan X (Capri / Milan), Ruttkowski;68 (Cologne / Düsseldorf / Paris / New York), SHRINE Gallery (New York / Los Angeles), Soho Revue (London), Stems Gallery (Brussels / Paris), superzoom art gallery (Paris), The Hole (New York / Los Angeles), WOAW Gallery (Hong Kong / Beijing / Singapore). From Spain, we will have Ana Mas Projects (Barcelona), Galería Alegría (Barcelona), L21 Gallery (Barcelona / Palma de Mallorca), La Bibi Gallery (Palma de Mallorca), Luis Adelantado (Valencia / CDMX), Lundgren Gallery (Palma de Mallorca), and VETA by Fer Francés (Madrid).
This year, the fair will only be open in the evenings (from July 12th to 16th) and will feature 30 international galleries and 7 national galleries, many of which are attending for the second consecutive year. In parallel, there will be a comprehensive program of events, private visits to institutions, and appearances by local and international cultural figures.
"We want to create connections and become a relaxed gathering. Ibiza has traditionally been a haven for artists and creators. In the sixties, there was the 'Grupo Ibiza 59,' and there is a good offering of local galleries" says Sergio Sancho, director and founder of the fair.
